The Academy

Our Chefs Academy was purpose built and opened in Oct 2009. As well as our head office it is home to our Mediterranean, Dartmoor & Fusion Kitchens where we run our professional chef training courses. At weekends we also run our half-day, one-day and weekend cookery courses.

Dartmoor Kitchen

Our Dartmoor kitchen is bright with high ceilings and air conditioned. The kitchen layout has 4 workstations each with 4 students stations. Students have their own kitchen equipment, storage area, knife set and share an oven, an induction hob and gas hob between two. The chef demo area is equipped with HD video screens. Our new dining rooms provide a quality space for theory sessions and meals and opens out to a private patio area.

Mediterranean Kitchen

The Mediterranean kitchen is a large ktichen with high ceiling and natural light. FOur workstations each for four students, along with a chef demonstationa area. Workstations are fully equipped with knives and pans, and 2 students each share an oven, gas hob, induction hob and sink. The kitchen has a walk-in fridge for storage of produce. The room open out onto a theory and dining room which also has it's own terrace patio.

Fusion Kitchen

The Fusion kitchen is on the first floor and with it's high church ceiling feels open and bright. Movable granite workstations provide a flexible working space in front of the chef demonstration area, with ovens and hobs arranged around the outside. The chef demo station is equipped with HD video screens. A large dining room with views over the hills is used for theory sessions and meals.

Our East Street Campus is home to our Garden Kitchen and Buckland Kitchen.

Buckland Kitchen

This kitchen has been recently refurbished with new double ovens and induction hobs, and a workspace designed to put students close to the action. A coffee lounge with comfortable sofas and light courtyard dining room complete the spaces.

Our original training kitchen is full of character. Opening out to a walled courtyard, dining room and garden this is a great private space that you will feel ownership of throughout the duration of your course. A central granite work bench gives you direct access to the chef tutor for close-up demos.
