The Ashburton Certificate of Cookery is a highly practical, intensive, 3 week cookery course designed for those looking master the fundamentals of professional cookery.
This course is designed as an alternative to our 6 week Professional Culinary Certificate for those that do not need the qualification (or the exam conditions) and have less time available.
Typical ambitions of students that come on this course include:
- launching a career as a professional cook;
- developing skills for a catering business or chalet/yacht cook;
- personal cookery skill development;
Over 90 hours of practical cookery training
We cover the skills that are found in a professional catering environment and whilst this course will contain the necessary components of theory to develop your knowledge, this is a very practical, hands-on course and the amount of time you will be cooking is maximised. In fact you will receive over 90 hours cookery training.
You will not spend hours of your day washing up, or weighing flour and peeling potatoes as you will do at most other cookery schools - we take care of that. The essential ingredients for the day are pre-weighed and prepared for you to maximise your cooking time (unless it is an essential aspect of the training. i.e if you are learning to fillet a flounder, you will get a whole flounder.)
The course runs in our peaceful Garden Kitchen with a maximum number of 10 students.

We are blessed with some of Europe's finest produce in Ashburton, and your cooking will benefit from the highest quality ingredients, sourced from our local, food producers.
You training will be lead by our highly experienced, full-time chef tutors, all of whom have a wealth of experience in catering and teaching.
With a strong focus on plating and presentation skills, you will be amazed at the range of restaurant quality food you will be producing daily.
Your lunch and early evening dinner menus will feature the recipes you are working on that day, so you won't be leaving the course hungry, and you'll enjoy a glass of wine at the end of a fulfilling day of cookery.
Your course will finish at 6pm each day leaving you plenty of time to unwind, or explore this beautiful part of the world.
At the end of the course, armed with new skills and a new confidence in the kitchen, you will be presented with your Ashburton Certificate of Cookery.
Extending this course
Completing the Advanced Cookery Week in addition to the Certificate of Cookery earns the Advanced Certificate of Cookery qualification.

You can secure your place on this course with a £500 non-refundable deposit. The remaining balance is payable 6 weeks prior to the start of the course.
Most students stay with us during this course. We offer special pricing for students of £885 for 15 nights (Sun to Thurs) B&B accommodation (£59 per night) at our accommodation in Ashburton Court.
