Glyn and Helen's Experience at the School

Glyn and Helen's Story

"The Intermediate course gave us the inspiration and confidence to think seriously about starting off a career in catering"

We came on an Intermediate course in July 2005 which we really enjoyed. It gave us inspiration and confidence to think seriously about starting off a career in catering. We both used to work for the Royal Bank of Scotland - so a big change.

We bought our own cafe bistro in Chapel en le Frith in the Peak District at Christmas time 2005. We are open daytime and Saturday evenings. We are learning as we are going along - getting six items on a breakfast plate hot is certainly a stressful experience!

We have also joined Peak District Foods - Darrin's words hit home about quality and traceability of foods - and this is a group of like minded suppliers.

We are now working at least 7 days a week - the worst thing is the numb feet! But we have made a great change in our lives.

Although we would love to come down again we suspect we will not be able to make it down for a course this year - but the impact of the course last year lives on for us.
