Foundation Cookery
Course
Five-day
cookery course
Love food but need help with cooking
- or unsure of your skills ? Want to be the next Gordon Ramsay
but don't know your lemongrass from your elbow? We know there
are thousands of food lovers out there who are desperate to
get cooking for themselves but really don't know where to
start to improve basic skills.

Our five-day Foundation course takes you from entry
level to competent cook, starting with the basics and moving
on to more complex areas. By the end of the course you'll
be handling pastry with confidence, baking your own bread,
making the perfect omelette, filleting fish and much more.
You will learn about ingredients and how to use them as well
as each day creating a two or three course meal to eat. For
example, Day One may be roast chicken breast with leek and
smoked bacon cream sauce followed by pear crumble. By the
end of the week you could expect to cook lemon sole with beurre
noisette and prawns, finishing with your own sticky toffee
pudding and vanilla bean icecream!
The course is suitable for gap-year students aged over 18,
for men and women who have little cooking experience, and
also for those who have only a few skills and lack the confidence
to embark on home entertaining. We also recommend this course
for those who would like to embark on our Intermediate one
week, or longer courses, or for very mature students who have
some skills but may not have cooked much for themselves.
The course is designed to allow plenty of time to practice
basic skills more than once to ensure you gain confidence
as the week progresses. A course folder with essential theory
and recipes wil be yours to take home at the end of the course,
along with many helpful hints and problem-solving tips.

This course is suitable for ages 18 and over.
