Common Questions

Is the Dining Club a restaurant where I can book a table when I want?

No, the Dining Club is an 'event' that has a start and finish time, and limited places available. Bookings must be made and paid for in advance.

What is a tasting menu?

A tasting menu is a fixed menu, designed by the head chef around a theme or to showcase signature dishes. The portions are smaller than a main course, but there are more courses.

Can I have a table for four please, by ourselves ?

Whilst your party will be seated together, this is a social evening and seating will be at banquet tables to enable everyone to see and engage with the host. It makes for an enjoyable night.

I want to order a bottle of wine for my party during the evening.

Wine is matched specifically to each course which will be served with your meal. We are unable to sell additional bottles of wine during the evening, but there will be plenty of wine available.

I don't drink but I want to come. Can I have a discount?

Unfortunately not, however we can supply you with non-alchoholic drinks through the night.

What about transport?

We can arrange for taxi collection from the cookery school for you. Newton Abbot train station is 15 minutes away. We will also run a minibus to and from Ashburton town centre. Please tell us if you have transport requirements at the time of booking.

Do you have a vegetarian option?

Please tell us your requirements prior to booking as there are delicious Vegetarian options available.

I am not an Ashburton Cookery School student, can I still come to this event.

Yes. Cookery School students get priority booking with extra notice about an event, but once the details are published on this website, anyone can book.

I don't like something on the menu. Can I have something else?

Unfortunately, the tasting menu is a fixed menu. If there is a particular course that you are unwilling to try, you could choose the vegetarian option. Please tell us when booking.

I may be half an hour late arriving, is this a problem.

We request that everyone arrives at 7pm. Since the timing of the food and wine is planned carefully, arrivals after 7.15pm cannot be catered for.

I can't make this date. When is the next event?

We hope to be running the Dining Club events at least every month with a different menu. If you sign up to our Dining Club newsletter we will give you advanced notice. Click here to register.
