Terms and Conditions
By booking on any of our courses or accommodation you agree to abide by our terms and conditions. We reserve the right to make minor amendments to the Cookery Courses content and prices without notice.
What's included:
Ingredients, utensils, knives, equipment and aprons are provided
for all courses. Some meals are included in the course cost
- please see appropriate course details for further information.
What's not included:
Prices do not include accommodation. Please refer to our website
or brochure for accommodation details and prices.
Application requirements:
You must be 18 years or over to attend all our cookery courses
with the exception of our five-day Beginners courses where
you must be over 16 years old to attend.
Skill Levels:
If you are unsure as to your skill requirements for a course, please phone us so we can help ascertain your level of experience before
booking. We rely on students being able to self assess their own skill level and are happy to assist with this but cannot be held liable if you book a course much higher or lower than your actual skill level. Please call us on 01364 652784 if you are in doubt.
Health & Safety:
All participants should wear shoes with flat, non-slip soles
and covered toes, preferably leather. We cannot admit you to the cookery school without proper footwear. We recommend
wearing sensible clothing ie not your best outfit - we
are not liable for any damage that occurs to clothing. Long
hair must be tied back in the kitchen. All course participants
will receive a short briefing on health and safety before
commencing the course as well as a printed handout to take
with them.
Special dietary requirements, food allergies & illness:
We are unable to tailor our course content for special dietary
requirements unless you are booking a minimum of 10 places
on the course. However, we will be happy to discuss course
content beforehand to allow you to make your own alternative
eating arrangements if necessary. There is no reduction in
fee in this instance.
Please inform us in advance of any allergies, disabilities, diabetes, pregnancy, epilepsy, learning difficulties etc.
Payment:
One, Two and Five Day Courses: All payments should be made in full at the time of booking for both the Cookery Course and for the accommodation where appropriate. We do not take provisional bookings and cannot confirm your place on a course or for accommodation until we receive full payment.
Diploma Course: a non-refundable deposit of £500 must
be paid at time of booking to secure a place on the course.
The full balance of course and accommodation must be received
six weeks before the course start date. Failure to do so may
result in your losing your place on the course and retention
of your deposit. We very occasionally have last-minute cancellations
and special offers - these may be at a reduced fee. Please contact us for details.
Cheques should be made payable to:
Ashburton Cookery School and sent to Admin, 76 East Street, Ashburton, Devon TQ13 7AX.
Cancellations & Refunds Policy
Our standard 21 day cancellation policy applies to all Cookery, Wine Courses bookings and Accommodation.
Standard 21 day cancellation policy
Up to 21 days of the start of your course:
This means that you may request a change of course dates up to 21 days of the start of the course and we will happily transfer you to another date, or course subject to availability.
You may also request a refund up to 21 days of the start of the course you have booked. Please note there is an administration and handling charge of £15 for processing customer refunds.
Within 21 days of the start of your course:
Most bookings for courses at the Ashburton Cookery School and Ashburton Wine School are made many months in advance. It is therefore hard for us to resell any places within 21 days of the start of the course date, and any cancellations within this time can result in lost revenue that affect the ability of the Cookery School and the Wine School to deliver quality courses.
If you cancel your booking within 21 days of the start of your cookery or wine course and we are unable to resell your place in the time remaining, you will forfeit any course fees and accommodation associated with your booking. We recommend travel insurance for all students that will cover your costs in the event of you being unable to attend your course. Click here for details of our low cost insurance option.
Travel Insurance is strongly recommended:
We strongly recommend taking out appropriate travel insurance to cover you in the event that you cannot make your course. Please read the following page carefully regarding insurance.
Coroporate 60 Day Cancellation Policy
Corporate bookings that reserve the use of a whole kitchen for the course of their choosing are subject to a 60 day cancellation policy.
If the booking is cancelled within 60 days of the start date, we will reschedule the date with a retail course and offer this up to our retail market - however, any places thar remain unsold at the start of the rescheduled course (up to £145 per person per day) will be deducted at the standard retail rate from your booking fee to reflect the lost revenue caused by the cancellation.
Voucher bookings:
If for any reason you need to cancel your booking we are quite happy to find you a place on the nearest available course - however you must rebook no later than 21 days before the course starts. This option to rebook applies only once - a second cancellation at any time will result in forfeiture of the total voucher cost. Cancellations within 21 days of the course date will result in forfeiture of the total voucher cost.
Cancellations by Ashburton Cookery School:
In the unlikely event of cancellation by ourselves, we undertake to provide a suitable alternative within a reasonable period of time. If this is not possible, and it is not possible for a claim to be made for insurance, we undertake to make an immediate full refund for course or accommodation fees.
Cancellations by Ashburton Wine School:
The Ashburton Wine School operates a minimum student number policy. If a wine course is undersubscribed with less than 40% of places booked (4 students out 10 places) at 14 days prior to the start of the course you will be offered:
a) a place on any matching future course or;
b) a full refund of any course and accommodation fees made with us.
Please note that we cannot be held liable for any other fees made outside of your booking with the Ashburton Wine School, such as accommodation with other hotels etc.
Please be assured that this policy is in place to maintain the quality of the experience delivered on these courses, and in the unlikely event of this happening we will give you a minimum of 2 weeks notice.
