Discover Mexican cooking with our fun one-day cookery course. Under the guidance of our professional chef tutors you will learn classic dishes to prepare at home to create a delicious Mexican feast for family and friends.
Authentic Mexican food is vibrant, colourful and has great depth of flavour. Using fresh herbs, vegetables, citrus and of course chillies it can be as spicy as you want or not at all - it's up to you. More than anything though Mexican food is unpretentious food perfect for sharing!
On this course you will learn to create a fresh, colourful banquet of dips, salsas, tortillas that is just as suitable to be eaten from the hand as from a plate - matched with a Cerveza or perhaps a Paloma (tequila, grapefruit, lime and soda).
In the morning we will learn the core flavour combinations and ingredients used in the cuisine and you will create a range of Mexican snacks and handmade crisp fried tostadas which you will enjoy as a light lunch.
After a further couple of hours in the kitchen perfecting your cookery you will end the day enjoying a main course of Chicken Tinga Tortilla, fresh Salsa's and traditional Rice with handmade flour tortillas.
Upon completion of this course you will have an understanding of flavour combinations and ingredients used in Mexican cookery, along with the skills to recreate popular Mexican dishes as home.
- Aguachile in Mango and Jalapeno
Seabass ceviche cured with mango, chilli and ginger.
- Beef Tostadas
Seared beef skirt with refried beans and crisp fried tostadas.
- Pico De Gallo
Salsa of tomatoes, chilli, coriander, onion and lime.
Spiced avocado dip with jalapenos and lime.
- Chicken Tinga
Shredded chicken in a spicy tomato sauce.
- Mexican red rice
Traditional toasted rice with spices and tomatoes.
- Salsa Verde
Salsa made of tomatillos, green onions, coriander and chilli.
- Roasted tomato salsa
Smokey tomato salsawith peppers and cumin.
Soft wheat flour flat bread.
- Accompanied with shredded lettuce, sliced avocado, sour cream and queso fresco.
